When scheduling transportation for your loved one it is alway best to inform the dispatcher of the patient condition.

Patients that can sit for long periods  of time with out discomfort or require minimal health monitoring should be scheduled to be transported by Para-Transit Wheelchair van

PATIENTS THAT HAVE BEEN MEDICATED OR SEDATED SHOULD NEVER BE TRANSFER BY PARA TRANSIT WHEELCHAIR SERVICE

If your loved one can not sit for long periods of and require monitoring they should always be schedule to be transported by stretcher van this is a non-ambulance service that has stretcher capabilties with an additional attendant

Patients that reqiures stretcher constant monitoring and care such as airway management should always be schedule to be transported by Basic Life Support Ambulance staff by Emergency Medical Technician

It is always important to provide the dispatcher with as much information as possible when scheduleing transportion. for exsample:

Patient name Date of birth Patient weight any require care while in transit

all insurance information The correct address of the appointment location and phone number

and 

If there are any steps to gain access to the patient

1. CALL THE EMEGENCY NUMBER 911
2. GIVE YOUR FULL NAME AND THE TELEPHONE NUMBER YOUR CALLING FROM.
3. GIVE THE EXACT LOCATION OR ADDRESS OF THE EMERGENCY. INCLUDE TOWN OR CITY, APARTMENT NUMBER , STREET NUMBER, BUILDINGS LANDMARKS OR INTERSECTIONS
4. THE TYPE OF EMERGENCY ILLNESS,  HEART ATTACK OR MOTOR VEHICLE ACCINDENT
5. NUMBER OF PEOPLE INVOLVED
6. THE CONDITION OF THE VICTIM AND IF THERE HAVING CHEST PAIN, DIFFICULTLY BREATHING OR UNCONTROLED BLEEDING.
7. IF ANY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IS BEING PROVIDED AND BY WHOM
8. NEVER HANG UP THE TELEPHONE UNTIL THE DISPATCHER HANGS UP
9. RETURN TO THE VICTIM AND PROVIDE CARE OR SUPPORT

IF SOMEONE ELSE IS AVAILABLE HAVE THEM WAIT OUTSIDE TO DIRECT THE EMERGENCY PERSONELL TO THE LOCATION OF THE VICTIM

In most case's Medicare and Medical Assistance programs do not cover non-emergency transportation to and from doctors offices and out patient hospital precedures. The only time Medicare will cover ambulance transportation is in the event it is a emergency and life threating to life or limb and is transported to the closest emergency room Patient requesting to be transported to hospital other then the closest could be held responsible for the addition mileage fee's.

Insurance carriers other then Medicare and Medical Assistance should always be contacted prior to scheduling transportation to check for eligibilty and pre-authorization
